Tips and Tools for ASE Employees Performing Job Development

At ASE, we focus on a term we coined as Economic Job Development. Job development should be focused on 3 specific areas:

  1. How can the job you are developing benefit the tax payer?

  2. How can the job you are developing benefit the employer?

  3. How can the job you are developing benefit the supported employee?

In all aspects of individual job development, we are attempting to find specific strengths, interests, and abilities our clients have, find the needs of an employer, and marry those 2 ideas together. When interacting with employers find:

  • Where our client could SAVE an employer money?

  • Where our client could MAKE an employer money?

  • Where our client could EXPAND an employer’s customer base?

  • Where our client could bring an employer a COMPETITIVE EDGE?

  • How could our client could PROVIDE A NATURAL EXTENSION of what an employer is already doing?

We focus on setting up informational interviews to help get our foot in the door with employers and to develop a rolodex of employers that we can continually work with. The following are resources that we recommend you study to become a more effective job developer!
